Help brave Aarya's battle with Cancer

This GoFundMe page has been created by Aarya’s parent’s (Vikas and Prasanna) friends and family to assist her and her family cope with her enormous medical and living expenses as she continues to receive the best care from the leading Neuroblastoma experts at Memorial Sloan Kettering, NYC.
We would like to share our daughter Aarya’s story about her recent cancer diagnosis. Aarya is a vibrant and rambunctious 4 years old who was used to living next to the happiest place in the world, Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Like any 4 year old, she liked to play with her toys, watch funny YouTube videos and most importantly spend time with us and her big sister Arshiya.
Earlier this year, in July, Aarya started to complain about stomach pain and discomfort. Initially she was diagnosed with stomach bloating by her pediatrician, they recommended that she should eat a Gluten free diet and take stool softeners. After changing her diet and adding supplements, it didn’t help, as she was still in pain and by this time started to vomit. With a mother’s intuition and a father’s worry, we took Aarya to see a GI specialist who immediately found a mass in her abdomen. She was immediately sent to Orlando Health’s ER where after being poked, prodded, scanned with a series of tests, she was admitted in their pediatric ward and then came the dreaded news we feared most.
On September 29th, 2020, our world as we know it came crashing down when Aarya was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, Neuroblastoma. Our hearts and mind couldn’t believe what we where hearing, our world turned upside down. However, we quickly started to network with friends to see where we can get Aarya the best and cutting edge care for her diagnosis. The consensus was Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City, which meant we would have to leave our home in Orlando and move to the NYC area. We did not hesitate and packed immediately for a road trip up to New York.
Arriving in NY and Memorial Sloan Kettering, the doctors informed us that the cancer had progressed to Stage 4 and metastasized to other parts of Aarya’s body including her bone marrow. Given the current size of the tumor, its currently inoperable and she needs chemotherapy which was started on October 10th.
As parents we can’t bare to see our little daughter connected to various machines with all kinds of tubes coming out of her body as she receives chemo. Not to mention the procedures to conduct surgeries, biopsy's, regular needle pokes, regular irritating Covid swabs, tiring blood transfusions and other diagnostic tests. Aarya has bravely handled everything which came her way. We are so amazed to see how strong and brave our little 4 year old is, but sometimes its little too much to ask from her. We are truly blessed with Arshiya, Aarya’s older sister there to cheer her on and always trying to make her smile and laugh!
Aarya’s battle with Neuroblastoma will last well over a year, receiving chemotherapy, followed by surgeries to remove the big tumor, then Radiation treatments and Immunotherapy to keep the cancer from coming back. As she battles cancer and receives the subsequent treatments, the strain on our family is tenfold with the frequent hospital visits and long hotel stays. As we keep Aarya close to her treatment center partly due to restrictions of the current pandemic but mainly due to her suppressed immune system. Not to mention the financial burden of her treatments even with insurance we still have to pay for the out of pocket expenses such as my deductible/coinsurance and then comes 2021. This is on top of the expenses for our stay in NYC along with our home in Orlando.
We don't know how long the treatment would go and how much more it would cost. For now our goal is of $30,000 which may or may not be sufficient. Anything unused would be donated back to kids like Aarya.
