Help Braniya Get the Care She Deserves

Hello my name is Unique I am the mother of Braniya Griggley. On April 12, my daughter Braniya (21 years old) went to the ER for medical care, but while there, she suffered an air embolism. For those unfamiliar, an air embolism is extremely rare and usually only happens during surgery or through an IV line — yet it tragically occurred in the ER that day. This caused multiple mini strokes and resulted in severe brain damage.

Doctors told us Braniya would remain in a vegetative state, but she has been proving them wrong. Over time, she has shown moments of responsiveness — closing her eyes on command, opening her mouth when asked, and responding to familiar voices by opening her eyes. These small steps give us hope.

We have been approved for Braniya to receive treatment at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas, one of the top facilities in the country, known for remarkable turnaround rates in patients with similar brain injuries. Unfortunately, our insurance has repeatedly denied coverage, leaving us to face the overwhelming financial burden on our own with cost being $200,000.

Braniya was in college in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, pursuing her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. She has her whole life ahead of her, and we believe she deserves every chance at recovery.
