Hi, my name is Kaylee and I am raising money for a very special dog named Brandy.
Brandy is 2 years old and was taken in by her previous owner in January after being found as a stray, and was recently surrendered to my local shelter where I took her on as a foster.
Within an hour of having Brandy home, she started limping on her right back leg. When I took her back to the shelter to have it treated, she was not evaluated by the vets due to previous behavioral issues (that were not apparent during this visit), and we were sent on our way. When her situation did not improve over a few days, I asked for her to be reevaluated, and was initially told no, and then was told to drop her off at the shelter.
When following up a few days later to see how treatment was going, I was told she was on behavioral watch, had not been evaluated, and was set to be put down if I did not adopt and take on her unknown medical fees. I offered to make a $1k donation to the shelter get her treatment and was denied. This came as such a shock due to Brandy being so well behaved in my home.
I reached out to other shelters and vets for assistance but did not get much traction, and was not prepared for the time and financial commitment of adopting. The shelter was in the process of euthanizing Brandy when my boyfriend encouraged me to see her one more time, and after doing so, adopting her felt like the only option. She came to me as the sweet spunky girl she was once in my foster care, and was so ready to go home (where she is now currently napping in a pink sweater after a much needed bath).
If you are able to donate, the funds would go towards treatment for her leg injury (which appears to be a cruciate tear and will a require a $5k surgery) along with treatment towards her fear aggression . Any contacts, further recommendations, or shares would also be extremely helpful! If you are unable to donate, I really appreciate you taking the time to read about Brandy.
