My name is Brandy, and I am raising funds for a mobility device that will help me regain my independence after a spinal cord injury. My injury occurred during a medical procedure in December 2011, and since then, my journey to regain mobility has been long and challenging. I currently use a wheelchair to get around.
Recently, I learned about a unique mobility device called the Zeen. This device would allow me to build endurance and confidence while working toward walking again, without the constant fear of falling. The Zeen is not covered by insurance, and I only have a short time—until February 15—to raise my half of the cost, or I will have to reapply for the grant, which typically takes several months and is not guaranteed.
The Zeen is special because it allows you to sit when you are tired, but also helps you build stamina as you get started. Being able to be at my regular height, rather than sitting all the time, will help me build more confidence when going out in the community. Without trying to sound dramatic, this is genuinely a life-changing device that will help increase my independence and quality of life. I appreciate you taking the time to read my story. All donations, shares, and good thoughts are greatly and equally appreciated. Your support will help me regain my strength, confidence, and independence - ideally including driving and finding employment.
