Help Brandon With Kidney Cancer & Liddle's
Donation protected
Dear Kind Hearts, I am writing on behalf of Brandon Bourne, a man who has dedicated his life to the education and uplifting of children and the less privileged in his community. Brandon, a native Brooklynite, born and raised in Brownsville, has always had a heart for service and community. He worked tirelessly for over seven years as an educator with the New York City Department of Education, nurturing and empowering special needs students to reach their fullest potential. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic took a heavy toll on his health, abruptly ending his fulfilling career in 2020 when schools were forced to shut down. Since then, Brandon's health has steadily declined, and he has been faced with not one, but multiple medical adversities. Most notably, he was recently diagnosed with kidney cancer and Liddle’s Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. Liddle's Syndrome is an uncommon condition characterized by early-onset hypertension and abnormalities in the body's electrolyte balance. This relentless disease paired with the invasive effects of kidney cancer, which can include fatigue, weight loss, persistent back pain, and other debilitating symptoms, have made it impossible for Brandon to work. Simultaneously, the high cost of living in New York City, coupled with rising medical and life expenses, has placed a significant burden on him. This has been especially difficult as he awaits approval for disability assistance. The average cost of living in New York City is one of the highest in the nation, with healthcare costs typically 20% higher than the national average. Coupled with the insurmountable expenses associated with cancer treatment and management of Liddle’s Syndrome, the financial hardship is overwhelming. This is why we turn to you, Brandon's friends, family, and those who believe in the power of community to make a difference. Our goal is to raise $20,000. This sum will provide essential support for Brandon's medical expenses and assist in meeting the high cost of living in the city while he is unable to work. We know these are challenging times for everyone, but if you're able, we kindly ask that you consider making a donation, no matter how small, to help Brandon in his fight. Your contribution will be directly used to cover medical costs, including treatments, medications, and hospital visits, as well as help with daily living expenses such as rent, utilities, and food. Brandon has spent his life giving to others, supporting those most in need. Now it is our time to support him. We sincerely thank you for your consideration and generous heart. For those unable to contribute financially, please help us by sharing Brandon's story far and wide. Together, we can rally the support needed to help Brandon overcome these adversities. Let's stand in solidarity with Brandon, giving back to a man who has given so much to his community. Thank you for taking the time to read Brandon's story, and for any assistance you can provide. Please feel free to share this story with others who may wish to help. With heartfelt gratitude, Roger Hanson and the Friends & Family of Brandon Bourne Fundraising Team P.S. - Updates on Brandon's journey and further information on how your generous donations are helping will be posted on this GoFundMe page. Your thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement are deeply appreciated.
