Help Brandon Rubio March Carolina Crown
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Brandon Rubio. This summer, I’ve been granted the opportunity to age out as a bass drummer with Carolina Crown. However, in light of recent circumstances, I’m reaching out to ask for any financial support you may be able to offer. I will quickly explain my situation, and any consideration whatsoever truly means the world.
On December 14, while I was away at an audition camp, my father suffered a hemorrhagic stroke.
That first night, doctors told me he wouldn’t survive. A CT scan revealed his brain stem engulfed in an overwhelming amount of blood. He was an organ donor, and as we waited for matches, a miracle occurred, he started showing signs of consciousness. We began aggressive treatment immediately. Since then, he has endured multiple surgeries, endless procedures, and the slow, grueling process of learning to exist again.
I didn’t return to camp, and after a while, I was so burned out by life that I wasn’t sure if I would even attempt marching. As a performer in WGI, I eventually returned to my weekly rehearsals, but for a time, I had no hope of affording my age-out summer. I spoke to my mother, and she reminded me that my father wouldn’t have wanted me to quit, not when I was so close to the end. Now, I am fighting relentlessly to march this summer in his honor.
With staggering and ever-growing medical expenses, any financial assistance would grant me the opportunity to give my final goodbye, to march this summer as a tribute to my father.
As I write this, both of my parents are unemployed, with my mother and family by my father’s side every day supporting him. I cannot be there for him this summer, and that reality weighs on me every day as I work tirelessly to afford this opportunity. I want to return home after I age out and show him that I accomplished my dream. A dream that after all these years I was able to accomplish, for him.
Regardless of any financial assistance, I appreciate you taking into consideration my situation. If able, know that any amount helps and is deeply appreciated. If not, please consider sharing this with others. Any support brings me closer to honoring my father and finishing this journey stronger.
