2020 has been a tough year for the world, and it just got immensely tougher for Brandon. Brandon has been a VIGEO GARDENS' team member for 2.5 years, and during COVID-19 starting experiencing some health issues. He began getting sick and feeling nauseous frequently along with severe back pain around his kidneys. The pain became so severe that he had his fiance take him to the emergency room on Thursday 5/28. Upon admittance the doctors had him transferred to Summa City where he underwent a lymph node biopsy and a bone marrow biopsy. The results came back showing he has stage 4 lymphoma that is present in his bone marrow as of today 6/2. They placed a port in the right side of his chest and are looking to begin chemotherapy today. Brandon will undergo chemotherapy, and has been connected with clinical trial opportunities for lymphoma currently underway at the Cleveland Clinic. Brandon informed us of his situation via a phone call today, and we as a company and a community want to help. Due to COVID-19 Brandon has been unable to see his loved ones since hearing the news, and we want to give him some good news and be a supporter in his fight against cancer.
Just like many around the country, Brandon had reduced work hours during this pandemic. As such, every day bills definitely become more significant and the out of pocket costs associated with cancer treatment can be disastrous. Brandon is the type of guy who doesn't want anyone to feel bad for him and was already naming the positives from his hospital room. Brandon even made it clear that he wants to return to work as soon as possible. We want to help him with the costs of his treatment.
About Brandon:
Brandon is an incredibly hard worker who does everything to the best of his ability. He cares about his work and is an awesome teammate. Brandon has stuck around for extra hours on many occasions to make sure all of the daily orders get filled and the business has continued success. He is passionate and shows his love for his fiance and family every chance he gets. Brandon loves to BBQ and has brought in food for everyone on many occasions just because Brandon is a kind soul. He loves nature and really cares about the world around him.
As a company we are pulling together to make sure he has all of our freshest produce to eat healthy during chemotherapy. We are collecting gift cards for his favorite restaurants and grocery stores so he can maintain the best diet possible to be at optimum health. We are also compiling quality books so Brandon can read on the best chemotherapy diets and also books on maintaining a positive mindset.
Brandon's fight started without him even knowing. He doesn't have the liberty of saying maybe tomorrow. So we are stepping up today to make sure we help take care of Brandon through his battle against Lymphoma.
