Help Brandon Fight Aplastic Anemia
Donation protected
My name is Quoc Sam, and I'm the father of Brandon Sam.
Brandon is a GBS alum (class of 2022). Currently, He is a junior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in Computer Science.
Last Tuesday, he was rushed to Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign due to intense stomach pain. After a battery of tests, they found out he had two masses in his stomach. His HGB was very low at 0.3, and his platelet count was 7. This prompted them to do a bone marrow test as well.
It turns out he has aplastic anemia, a rare condition in which his bone marrow stops producing the proper blood cells needed for him to survive.
Now, he is being treated at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
The medical bills are going to be very expensive. Therefore, I am asking for your help.
Any help is better than no help.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Here are the breakdowns how the money is being use:
Our insurance has a 20% out of pocket per visit.
The medications also have copay. For example: the drug Promacta cost 32K for a 30 days supply has a copay of $6, 810.58 per shipment. Yes, that is not a typo. He needs this drug to build up his platelets.
All the money from your donation is set up in a separate account just for his copays. The rest are from insurance and me.
