Hello, my name is Jackie Hill, and I am reaching out with hope and courage to ask for your support as Brandon Cook prepares for a life-changing surgery — a vocal cord transplant at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona.
When Brandon was just 7 years old, his life was forever changed after being struck by a UPS truck while riding his bike. He spent three months in a coma and years in rehabilitation, relearning how to walk, talk, and complete the most basic functions. Since then, he has undergone 63 medical procedures just to maintain the ability to breathe. Despite countless scar tissue removals, stent procedures, and ongoing challenges, Brandon has continued to push forward, staying active at the gym and working on both his physical and mental health.
Now, for the first time in decades, there is real hope. This surgery could:
• Allow Brandon to speak normally again
• Remove scar tissue from his airway, making breathing easier
• Improve his ability to be active and live a more normal life
The procedure comes with risks and a long recovery, but it also offers the chance for Brandon to reclaim his voice and independence after nearly a lifetime of struggle. His long-term dream has always been to work in law enforcement and serve his community, but chronic subglottic stenosis has kept that out of reach. With this surgery, Brandon finally has a chance at the future he has worked so hard for.
The estimated cost for this procedure, recovery, and necessary speech therapy is $30,000. Any contribution, big or small, will make a tremendous difference in helping reach this goal and supporting Brandon as he takes the next step toward living a full, healthy life.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read Brandon’s story and for any support you are able to provide — whether through donations or simply by sharing this fundraiser.
