Hello, our names are Jenn and Brandon. We are both dedicated local nurses, parents to a sweet 2 year old boy, and a couple who never imagined being on this side of care, asking for help from our community.
Brandon was in the prime of his life, only 28 years old, healthy, active, and full of energy. He ate well, didn’t smoke or drink, and worked out five times a week. He is a kind and loving man, husband and father as well as a dedicated local nurse who has spent his career caring for others.
On September 2nd, Brandon went to the ER in Barrie with a dull headache and leg pain. That same night, he was admitted to RVH, and the next day a bone marrow biopsy at Princess Margaret Hospital confirmed the diagnosis: Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)
Brandon spent five days in hospital, then came home briefly, only to be admitted again to Princess Margaret on September 10th – our 3rd wedding anniversary. The following day, September 11th, he missed our little boy’s 2nd birthday, something that broke his heart. On September 12th, he began intensive induction chemotherapy, marking the start of a long and difficult journey. He is required to remain inpatient for one full month, followed by months of weekly consolidation Chemotherapy.
Brandon will need a bone marrow transplant, which also involves at least one month in hospital, followed by 3–4 months living in Toronto while he recovers under close medical supervision.
As you can imagine, this has been devastating for us emotionally and financially. Brandon will be in hospital for weeks, possibly months, and our family is adjusting to a new reality filled with hospital stays, treatments, and uncertainty. During this time, our family will face significant expenses beyond what we can manage alone.
We are raising funds to help with:
• Travel costs back and forth to Princess Margaret Hospital
• Parking, meals, and accommodations during long hospital stays
• Childcare support for our toddler
• Lost wages and household expenses while Brandon is unable to work and I am caring for him.
Brandon is the most loving husband and father, and he is determined to fight this disease with everything he has. We are leaning on our community, friends, and family for support during this difficult time.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help ease the burden so we can focus on Brandon’s healing and being there for him and our son. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page to help spread the word.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love, prayers, and generosity.
With gratitude,
Jenn & Brandon
