Help Give Brammy a Leg to Stand On!

Back near the end of February this year, just a couple days before his birthday, Constable Jason Bramham or Brammy as he is known to his friends and co-workers fell severely ill and was rushed to hospital after collapsing in his home with what turned out to be a strain of H1N9. He was placed into a medically induced coma and on a ventilator while doctors fought to save his life as the resulting infection took over his body. Jason endured multiple open heart surgeries and for many weeks on end we did not know if he would pull through. He at one point was placed on a heart transplant list as they did not believe his heart would recover from the illness as well as kidney transplant list as he had gone into renal failure. 

Showing amazing determination and resillance he was able to beat the odds and pulled through, his heart and kidneys have recovered and no longer requires the transplants doctors once feared he needed. Jason was lucky enough to have his parents with him for most of the ordeal but with the COVID crisis coming into full effect during his illness his friend were often unable to see him.

Unfortunately he did not come out completely unscathed from his battle with this illness, the weeks of his heart struggling to keep him alive took its toll on his body in late March doctors were forced to amputate both of his lower legs. 

Brammy, has been a front line member of the Calgary Police Service for 10 years, and when he's not serving and protecting the citizens of Calgary, Jason is enjoying the outdoors! He loves to hike and be out in the mountains every chance he would get, either out on his own or taking his friends out to enjoy the sights. It seems like every weekend he off on a new trail or peak, often showing off his latest hike with pictures and videos displaying cliffs and ridges that make most of us puke.

Jason still has a long road to being full recovered and it is unknown when he'll be able to return to work and in what capacity, and has now been placed on long-term disability at work. He has been hospitalized now for coming up 5 months but is hoping to soon be released from hospital and is hoping to continue kicking butt in his rehbilitation.

Now the good news is that where the doctors amputated, just below the knee and at the knee, it will allow Brammy to be fitted for a excellent and state of the art prosthetics that will, once fully recovered,  allow him to be fully sell sufficient and return to his lifestyle of being out where he loves to be, in the mountains and hike those crazy trails. 

The kicker about these prosthetics is that they don't come cheap and Alberta Health and his benefits will only cover a small portion of the complete cost and Brammy will be on the hook for well over $50,000.

So that's where we come in, Brammy has given so much to his community and friends, let return the favour and help Jason get his legs to stand on without allowing him to be crippled financially.
