Hello, my name is Braeden McCollow. Thank you for taking the time to read my request. I'm on a mission to preserve an overlooked chapter of American music history. I travel across the country interviewing and documenting musicians from the 1950s and 60s, with a special focus on vocal group members. Why? Because vocal group music/doo-wop remains one of the most underrepresented parts of Rock N' Roll history. Even though many of these artists never topped the charts, their stories offer invaluable insights into how the music industry treated performers during this pivotal era.
Through video interviews, I give these musicians a platform to share their experiences firsthand. While I could simply write articles or blog posts, seeing and hearing these artists tell their own stories creates a more powerful and lasting historical record. These interviews allow them to speak freely about their creative process, their groups, and their experiences in the industry.
Your donation will help cover essential travel expenses as I document these important stories. The rising costs of accommodations and fuel have made this work increasingly challenging to fund independently. Your contribution will directly support:
Hotel accommodations
Transportation costs (gas)
Meals during research trips
Any contribution, regardless of size, helps ensure these musicians' voices won't be lost to time.
The Above photo is from an interview I did with Lovelace Redmond of the Supremes Four.
