Our sons name is Brady Sprik. He was injured in a car accident 4 years ago at the age of 15 and suffered a T5 spinal cord injury, a TBI, broken ribs and broke every tooth in his mouth but 3, also breaking the bone above the teeth. Prior to his accident he was VERY active in sports. He played football, baseball, basketball & track. Since his injury he has tried to get more involved & active in outdoor activities. We are from a small rural town in South Dakota, so adaptive sports are not available to him. He expressed interest to us, in wanting to get a hand cycle to get outdoors more and be able to ride bike with his brother, who is very active. He also hopes to be able to take his Labradoodle Lucy out for walks and runs with the bike.
Brady applied for a grant with High Fives and was luckily chosen to be a recipient of one of their grants to help purchase the bike, but it will only help with 1/3 of the cost of the bike. Now the reason for the fundraising effort: He only has until the middle of December to accept the grant or he will lose it. The other issue is that the place that he is ordering the bike from, is very backed up with orders and it will take some time to get his made, but the payments must be pre-made to the Vendor in order to have his name put on the list to have one manufactured. Brady is very excited about the idea of getting this bike and we really want to help him make this happen. We hope that you will consider this fundraiser as a place to give or that you would share it with your friends, in hopes of helping Brady get this adaptive handcycle.
We have included a few pictures of Brady, one following his accident, one of his Senior pictures, and one of the bike that he would like to get. We have also included a video of when he was able to get back out on the football field for one more play with his teammates after hundreds of hours of physical therapy. #bradystrong #32 #plattegeddesblackpanthers
Reaching out to ask for help is not an easy thing to do, but the cost of ANYTHING adaptive is so expensive and we would hate to see Brady lose this great opportunity of having received a grant to help with the process. Thank you for taking the time to share, donate or read this campaign, we appreciate you all.
