Help Brady fight Leukemia, Bone Marrow Transplant

Donation protected
My name is Helen Maynard and  I am doing this  fundraiser for my son, Brady Thornton. Brady was diagnosed with T-Cell ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) in 2019. He has been waging a continuous and courageous battle against Leukemia for three years. Brady has a giant smile, a huge heart and is always putting the needs of others before his own. His team of doctors' recent decision to proceed with a bone marrow transplant as the best course for a cure has led us to post this request for support.

At age 24, Brady was in the best shape of his young life when the devastating news of the very aggressive T-cell ALL shocked us all. Every day, we thank the Lord that Brady was healthy and was diagnosed early. During this battle with cancer, his strength in the Lord has grown as well as his belief that ultimately God will take care of him. His faith and the support of a family and close friends have helped sustain him. With the encouragement and support of his employer, he has persevered despite his illness and has maintained employment. Recently, Brady's primary oncologist notified him that he would not be able to continue working due to the transplant.

Brady has stayed positive but realistic during the last three years of intense chemo, daily medications, intravenous treatment, and injections into his spinal fluid. He has endured years of pain from steroids, numerous bone marrow biopsies, and many multiple-day stays at the hospital as a result of neutropenic fevers. This January, his medical team informed us that the best course of action would be to proceed with a Bone Marrow Transplant on April 1, 2022. After the transplant, patients typically remain in the hospital for three to four weeks as the bone marrow recovers and to monitor his condition while rebuilding his immune system. During this time and for many months after, he will require supervision for many daily tasks, resulting in a full-time caregiver. As his mother , Helen Maynard , I have been blessed to be Bradys full time caregiver . I was living in Ruidoso NM when we got Bradys diagnosis. I moved to Andrews Tx then to Dallas Tx to be his support for the last few years.  It is only due to incredibly generous family and friends' time, money and emotional support  that we have been able to get him through the last three years.

Donations received will be handled with the most outstanding care

Your support will only go to cover the below items
  • Medical expenses - From Brady's long term hospital stay, long term treatments and continued necessary care not covered by insurance
  • Lodging while he and his caregiver are living out of town for months
  • Bills, food, and living expenses - These create a huge financial burden due to the loss of income from both Brady and Helen
  • Caregiver expenses are partially covered with this as multiple family members will be donating their time and money to cover this requirement
  • Traveling expenses from Dallas Tx to Andrews Tx ( approximately 350 miles)

Brady has turned to this passage during his struggles, and he knows God's message is heard through his Word.
"Through this experience of suffering and sickness, I have learned many things about God's faithfulness and provision. When you are at your lowest point and you don't have the physical strength to fight, you can always rely on God's promises given to us in the Bible. God's word "is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)"

God encourages, gives grace, and is powerful. Even if you cannot donate, Brady asks you to please pray for a successful transplant and the doctors and nurses caring for him.

Thank you for your donations and prayers!

T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is an aggressive form of leukemia and a type of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). People with T-ALL may be given more aggressive treatments and are usually classified as having a high-risk disease.
We also highly suggest donating to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help fight against these aggressive diseases.
