Help Brad Steege Get Back on His Feet

As some may or may not have heard, Brad was seriously injured in an accident in Seattle on Wednesday, March 15th, while working as a school bus driver. While waiting for his students on a field trip, he was outside the bus and was struck by a car. Details of the accident continue to be few, but we do know the driver stopped and was insured. We are still waiting on a full police report. Brad sustained traumatic injuries to both his legs below the knee. Doctors needed to amputate his right leg below the knee in order to save his life. With lengthy surgeries and lots of hardware, they were able to repair his lower left leg. He did sustain other injuries from the accident but they have not been of great concern. The doctors think he will be able to have good mobility in his left leg eventually, but that will come after months of rest and physical therapy. Brad will not be able to bear weight on his left leg, or get fitted for a prosthesis, for at least 3 months. We thank God his life was spared.

Brad has long recovery journey ahead of him. My parents, Chris and Marie, drove to Minneapolis and were on a flight to Seattle only hours after hearing of his accident. My mom has been able to take FMLA and stay in Seattle with Brad until he is discharged from the hospital and is settled into his next place. He will either go to a rehab facility or move in with our parents. Brad’s main focus is on resting and healing.

I decided to start this go fund me to help cover some of the expenses that they will incur over the coming months.
