Help Brad In His Acute Myeloid Leukemia Journey
Donation protected
Our brother Brad started his Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) cancer journey in November 2023 and is now scheduled for a bone marrow transplant next month. This particular type of leukemia (only 4.3 of every 10,000 people), is one of the deadliest and most aggressive cancers of the blood.
Even with the best of planning no one could have known that when he went to the doctor for what he thought was a virus, it would quickly turn into a life altering diagnosis. Within 2 weeks Brad went from thinking he had the flu to being hospitalized, on chemo, fighting leukemia and other infections praying to stay alive so he could be with his family.
Because of a variety of high dose chemo treatments to keep the leukemia cells low until transplant, it has left him weak and without an immune system. Even the smallest of infections could be life threatening. Consequently he is unable to work, which has been very hard for him. Bills are starting to pile up, adding to the stress of trying to stay positive and healthy until transplant.
Our brother has worked very hard his entire life starting when he was 10 years old selling nightcrawlers, and also riding his bike to deliver newspapers.
Due to multiple doctor visits and hospital stays, taking care of Brad, the time and stress of maintaining their home and bills, his wife Michelle has had to cut her hours and has used most of her vacation time. And now because of 24/7 care after transplant she needs to change her position at work to be able to be home more to take care of Brad.
It’s going to be a very long journey until recovery, but we are believing in God for a full return to health.
We know that any help will be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Kathy, Shelley, and Tonya
