As many of you know, Brad suffered a severe heart attack in 2021 at just 32 years old. This was the result of a rare condition called Cardiac Sarcoidosis, which developed after his body had an adverse reaction to the COVID-19 vaccine. Since then, Brad has been in an ongoing fight — undergoing endless tests, searching for the right medications, having procedures, and attending countless doctor visits — just to keep his heart going.
This past July, after a routine TEE (transesophageal echocardiogram), Brad was hospitalized for a week due to extreme fluid retention throughout his body. During that stay, a heart failure and transplant specialist gave us news no family ever wants to hear: Brad’s heart function has declined so much that, without intervention, it likely won’t last another five years — and he should no longer work.
We have now begun the difficult journey toward extending Brad’s life through advanced treatments. This includes an LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) and eventually, a heart transplant — steps that could give him another 20–30 years with his wife and children.
Right now, Brad’s heart is functioning at just 21–25% (normal is 55–65%), and his left ventricle is more than twice its normal size, working half as hard as it should. One procedure that could help prolong his life — a MitraClip for his mitral valve — was recently denied by insurance, stating he “would not benefit from the procedure.”
We have reapplied for SSI/SSD, but that process can take 6–12 months (sometimes longer, especially with denials). In the meantime, Brad’s wife is the only one able to work, and the financial strain is overwhelming.
We are asking for help to keep up with monthly bills, cover critical medications, and manage ongoing health costs as we fight to keep Brad here with his family. Every donation, share, and prayer means the world to us as we navigate this difficult road.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love and support. ❤️
