Help Brad and his Family Beat Cancer in Houston!

As many of you know, my father-in law Brad Handley was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 2024. Through long and exhausting months of treatments at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas, the cancer had been reduced by as much as 90%.

A few months went by but with a weakened immune system circumstances and the weather landed him back in the hospital here in NW Arkansas. Whether it was the inexperienced staff, the brigade of doctors who couldn’t agree on the right course of action or just the one size fits all course of treatments, Brads condition worsened and His wife and step son and my wife Courtney, made an emergency trip back to Houston last week where he is finally able to get the right course of treatment he needs to effectively fight for his life. After a very risky emergency surgery to remove a tumor blocking his airway and re inflate a lung that he left Mercy hospital with, he is on the right path, but it’s going to be a long hard road to say the least. I have lost 3 family members to cancer because they weren’t afforded the proper care that MD Anderson can.

Brad will need to remain there in Houston for the next 8 weeks. The medical bills alone are enough to bankrupt this man who has been so giving and generous to this community for so many years with his money and his time. He will need family with him through this fight. Hotel costs are insane and in Houston it’s much higher. It is also $20 a day just to park one vehicle, expensive takeout food that is the only option and other day to day expenses are costing hundreds and heading towards thousands in just this first week for Brads wife Donna, my wife and her sisters who are there to help care for and be there to let Brad know this is a fight he can and will win and that he is not alone. Cancer has devastated so many lives and destroyed so many families. This family is in it together to support their dad, papa, father in law and husband. But we need help. Help with not only medical expenses but also with the cost of daily living for Donna and the daughters who will be taking shifts to help care for Brad through this 8 week ordeal.
