I’m Nina, and I’m raising funds for my hostel after an emergency forced us to close for the foreseeable future. An upstairs neighbor had a fire, and the water used to put it out flooded our business. What happened so suddenly has turned into a crisis for us and for the guests who were counting on staying with us. We now have to cancel stays at the last minute, and I’m heartbroken for the people who are being displaced with almost no warning.

THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WE SHOULD BE HELPING.

This fundraiser will help in two immediate ways. First, it will help us give a little cash to guests whose stays are being canceled this weekend so they can find emergency accommodation for tonight, tomorrow, and the next day. EACH GUEST WE CANCEL FOR TONIGHT AND TOMORROW WILL GET $100 cash (or Venmo if they have it) per night booked. This will help those having to find immediate (and likely expensive) lodging a LITTLE solace. Those we have to cancel for Sunday night will get $50 for that night. We will call this a "displacement fee". Even if we don't reach our goals and this fundraiser doesn't cover all of our displacement fees, that's ok. Treasure State Hostel will cover it. Because that's what decent humans do (amirite).

Second, it will help us keep up with bills while the hostel is closed until the liable business’ insurance pays out. If you’re able, please donate to support our hostel, help our displaced guests, and get us through this incredibly difficult closure. ANY DONATED MONEY WILL ONLY BE USED FOR THIS SECOND RELIEF AFTER ALL DISPLACEMENT FEES ARE DISPURSED TO OUR CANCELED GUESTS.

Spreading knowledge and pulling the veil back on how certain businesses operate/treat others is more important right now than cash.
