- My name is Denise Davis, and I’m reaching out to help my father, Boyd Davis, who is almost 86 years old and lives in the Mojave Desert. Boyd has always been independent, but now he’s facing a crisis. His well has run dry and possibly caved in, leaving him without water for the past several days. In the desert, water is essential for everything—drinking, bathing, cooking, cleaning, caring for pets, and even running the swamp coolers that keep us safe from the extreme heat. Without water, daily life has become a struggle, and the stress is taking a toll on my father’s health. He’s mentioned feeling unwell and believes he may have suffered a stroke recently.
I live next door and do my best to care for him, but I’m almost 68 myself and living on a fixed income. Our family isn’t able to help financially, and we have no other resources to turn to. Boyd’s only income is his retirement, which isn’t enough to cover the cost of drilling a new well. We’re asking for help so we can restore water to his home and make sure he can stay safe and healthy. Every donation will go directly toward the cost of a new well and any immediate needs for water delivery or repairs.
