Our journey started last week when our sweet girl was diagnosed with lymphoma. Boxie has been in our family since we found her in a cardboard box in a parking lot as a tiny puppy 10 years ago… hence her name, “Boxie”!

We love our sweet girl SO much and she loves us, too. I sometimes think that she is just grateful that we rescued her and that we have shown her nothing but love since we found her. We made a commitment to her then that no one would ever harm her again and that she would only know love and care for the rest of her life.

Fast forward to 10 years later, Boxie has been a healthy and happy pup her entire life. The week before last, we noticed her tummy looked bruised. When we checked her, we felt two large lumps in her belly. I called the vet immediately, and he had me check her neck, chest, and behind her legs, and all the lymph nodes were swollen. He suspected lymphoma and told me to take her into the clinic.

Last week Monday, we did a biopsy and X-rays. The biopsy confirmed lymphoma. X-rays show the cancer is localized to lymph nodes so far. CHOP chemo protocol is a very promising course of action and although this will not cure Boxie, it will allow her more time and a good quality of life. Doing nothing will result in her not making it past February since this disease is so fast-moving when not treated.

We want to give our girl a fighting chance and keep our promise to her that we will always care for her and do everything we can for her, so we’re asking for any help that can be used for her care. The vet clinic is great, allowing us to set up a payment plan, so donations can also be made directly to Care Animal Clinic in Lakeland, FL.
