Help Bowen Rebuild Her Home
Donation protected
On Friday, August 12, our brilliant friend Bowen Fernie’s apartment in East Williamsburg was destroyed in a terrible fire. First and foremost, we are thankful that she got out unharmed. Being the kindhearted and diligent person that she is, she and her partner helped those in her building evacuate safely, but they lost most of their possessions and could use some help in rebuilding their home at this difficult time. Bowen did not have renter’s insurance, so community support is essential to help her rebuild. Bowen has been freelancing for The New Yorker’s photo department this year, and has been instrumental in upholding the magazine's standards of excellence. She's beloved by her colleagues across all departments. Her time at the magazine is likely coming to a close this fall, rendering her future income uncertain, and her health-care plan is expiring this October. Between the precariousness of freelance life and a fire destroying her home, she needs our help to get back on her feet.
If you're in a position to give, Bowen and her partner would greatly appreciate the support.
