Boutsaliang Hongphao, her husband, and their children (ages 11, 22, and 27) have faced unimaginable hardship after the March 2026 Kona Low storms swept through their community. Their home’s roof and ceiling were severely damaged, and while their car survived, they are now sleeping in a house at high risk for mold. Essential appliances like the refrigerator, freezer, and generator were all destroyed. Their family farm, which spanned 10 acres and was their main source of income, was completely flooded. They grew mostly sugar cane and vegetables, but now all the crops are lost. Even the road to their property was damaged and only recently repaired. Tractors and other heavy machinery vital to their work were also left unusable by the storm.
The funds raised will help Boutsaliang and her family address urgent and immediate needs. With your support, they can start to rebuild what was lost and regain stability in their lives. It will take at least two months before they can plant again, and six months before they can harvest—if the soil is safe to grow from. Until then, every bit of help makes a world of difference. Boutsaliang and her family are deeply grateful for any support you can offer. Your kindness is truly giving them a new life and hope for the future. Thank you so much for standing with them during this incredibly difficult time.
This GoFundMe was created by the volunteers from Help Maui Rise and will directly benefit Boutsaliang and her family.
