Help Bosco The Boxer Fight Cancer

Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart and a tear soaked keyboard that I share this news about Bosco.

Today we found out that our little baby has an aggressive blood vessel cancer called Subcutaneous Hemangiosarcoma.

Forget Muhammed Ali... Bosco is the greatest boxer of all time. I know all pet parents say that but everyone who knows Bosco, knows this is true.  And like the original G.O.A.T., Bosco is a fighter.

This is obviously devastating news. Bosco is my baby, our child, part of my family (arguably the best member) and if you have spent anytime with Bosco on set or in an office over the years, he probably considers you part of his family too.

As far as we know, he is feeling fine, not in any pain, and probably doesn't know what is going on. It is still early and we are still figuring out what the options are but in order to get the cancer under control, the tumour must be removed immediately.  He will be having more bloodwork done on January 28th, his first appointment with the veterinary oncology surgeon on January 30th and then be scheduled for the tumour removal and start chemotherapy.

This is extremely scary and heartbreaking, if you know us personally, you know that Bosco is the heart of the Bones Fam, our mascot, everyone's cuddle buddy, and the best damn set dog to ever live.

The good news is that statistically, Dogs with subcutaneous hemangiosarcoma had a more favourable outcome, compared with dogs with intramuscular hemangiosarcoma, when treated with adequate local control and adjuvant doxorubicin.... That's the vet talking obviously... I don't even know what it means.

As anyone who works freelance knows, it is hard to have emergencies. Especially expensive ones. But Bosco (as I'm sure you know) is more important to us than anything and we intend to do anything and everything we can to fix our baby and help him kick cancer's butt.

Dogs are here for a good time, not a long time, but with your help, perhaps we can make sure Bosco can be with us for as long as possible. These vet bills are already, and going to be extensive and while we don't know the overall cost right now, the initial visits and medicine are already in the thousands.

I will be setting up a few incentives of special edition doggy designs of bones+stitches  products but until then, please help us save our baby. Any little bit helps and is beyond appreciated.  Once I get some incentives up, i will assign them retroactively.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Bosco is so unbelievably loved by so many of you, and he still has so much love to give back. He promises kisses and toots to everyone who's interested.

About Bosco:

Bosco, aka Bubbs, aka Bob, aka Bubba, aka Roberto, is a 9 year old purebred Boxer. In face, he just turned 9 on January 9th.. but everyone always thinks he's a puppy.  He wiggles and jiggles and puts a smile on every face he sees. He was born the runt of the litter and has been with us since he was 6 weeks old. He is a good boy.  a VERY good boy.  We don't deserve him.  He is loved by so many and loves everyone back.  His best friend is a one-eyed pug named Buffy and he loves to run up and down the street with her.  Bosco never speaks... he never barks... he thinks he's a lapdog and he is the king of our castle. I love him so much, too much... Like a crazy person almost... :)

About Bosco's Subcutaneous Hemangiosarcoma:

Hemangiosarcoma originating in or invading into the subcutaneous tissues and muscle is a clinically aggressive neoplasm. Adjuvant therapy should be considered for subcutaneous or intramuscular hemangiosarcoma. Adequacy of surgical excision and dermal versus subcutaneous location are predictors of clinical outcome. Dogs with nonmetastatic subcutaneous and intramuscular hemangiosarcoma at diagnosis and small tumors in which adequate local control can be achieved may be expected to have an improved outcome relative to other dogs with the same disease. Predisposed breeds with ventral location and multiple masses are more likely to develop recurrence. Adequate local tumor control, tumor diameter 4 cm, presence of metastasis at diagnosis, and presence of gross disease are significantly associated with overall survival time.
