Boots and Charlie are more than just brothers—they are two gentle, bright little souls who will be turning two years old this March. They came into our life together, and ever since, they’ve filled our home with warmth, mischief, and love. But this past year has been devastating. Both were diagnosed with FIC (feline idiopathic cystitis), a dangerous and unpredictable condition that threatens the lives of male cats. Watching them struggle through painful urinary blockages has been heartbreaking for my husband and I.
In October, Charlie suddenly became blocked and had to be rushed to the hospital for an emergency procedure. We stayed awake through the night, terrified I might lose him. And just when we thought we were past the worst of it, Boots suffered the same terrifying emergency this December. Seeing him in pain, knowing exactly what he was going through after watching his brother endure it—it shattered us. These procedures saved their lives, but the cost has been overwhelming, and the fear of it happening again never fully leaves. Each procedure costs between three and four thousand dollars, depending on the severity of the condition and the level of care required. These expenses add up quickly, and it’s more than we are able to manage on our own.
Caring for these cats is our life’s purpose. My husband and I share our home with eight beloved cats, including Boots and Charlie, and we also feed and look after a colony of nine neighborhood cats who rely on me every single day. We do everything we can to make sure each one of them feels safe, healthy, and loved. But the truth is, these medical emergencies have pushed us to a place where we can’t do it alone.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward paying off their hospital bills, covering their ongoing medications, and providing the prescription food Boots and Charlie will need for the rest of their lives. Your support doesn’t just help with expenses—it gives these boys a chance to live without pain, and it gives us the ability to keep caring for the animals who depend on me.
From the bottom of my heart, we thank you for reading their story. Thank you for caring. And thank you for any help you’re able to give. No matter the amount, your kindness makes a real difference for Boots, Charlie, and our entire little family.
