Hello! Meet Boone. He’s a 6 year old German shorthaired pointer. Boone was a very happy healthy dog. On Monday evening Boone was given a jones rib bone purchased from fleet farm. He started having issues during the night gagging and ended up throwing up bone fragments. By the evening not even 24 hours later Boone was in serious distress. His breathing was labored, he was lethargic, didn’t want to move and very cold to the touch. He was taken into the vet where they did X-rays and found tons of bone fragments remaining in his stomach. The vet then induced vomiting and the picture you see is what the bone did to Boone. He was given fluids and meds to try to stabilize him. Since then he has had numerous X-rays, ultrasounds, labs done, fluids given and much time out in at the vet to keep him stabilized. He is still not out of the woods as of yet he has lost a lot of blood and is now getting blood transfusions. He has suffered severe anemia, pancreatitis, an bleeding ulcer in his stomach. Boones vet bills have been astronomical and are now in the 10,000 dollar range. My parents are not ones to ask for help, but at this point they financially can not afford anymore vet bills.
