Help Boom to run around again!

My rescue, Boom, needs TPLO surgery (knee surgery) which has been quoted at $6500.

I am reaching out to those who have followed me throughout the years, animal activists, and dog lovers, as well as those who wish to make a difference in an urgent cause. Only 1 of every 600 pit bulls makes it out of shelters alive. Of all breeds, pit bulls are the least likely to receive help because of the negative stigma and misconceptions associated with their breed.

I have supported the animal community by acting as a foster home for many dogs throughout the years. During my foster period, I met one dog that captured my heart and the hearts of many others. Boom is 100% American Bull Pitbull.

After being rescued, he went through the foster system for 2 years pre covid; I was trying to help Boom find a family yet there was no successful match made for this big-headed pitbull with a heart full of love, licks and snuggles! Eventually, I realized that I had become Boom's family because he would cry whenever we had to be separated. When I decided to adopt him, I knew that he would need this surgery but it was too late for me to cut the bond between us and ignore his more immediate need5 for a home.

My journey with Boom has not been easy however none of the adversities have been his fault. The stigma surrounding his pitbull breed has made him the victim of discrimination throughout the years despite Boom himself being a most loyal, loving dog. This persistent and devastatingly impactful discrimination against Boom and his breed has since fueled my motivation to advocate for these animals.

As some of you may know, pitbulls are predisposed to knee troubles that require surgery at some point in their life. In the past, I have supported, not just Boom, but other animals who have needed surgery by providing financial aid and/or housing. Now, it is Boom who needs surgery on his left knee and I who need support from the community in my quest to provide him with care.

If I and other charitable individuals can come together and contribute a small part to the surgical costs, Boom will be granted relief from pain and improved quality of health for the rest of his life. Boom has a lot of love left to give me, my community of friends and neighbors, and new friends in the future. I can honestly say without hesitation that anywhere Boom stayed, he spread love without ever asking anything back... aside from maybe an extra snuggle. In his travels, Boom has serviced many people in many ways, changing the lives of many individuals, all while awakening me to the benevolence of his nature. He is truly a spokesman of his breed, demonstrating through his kind, affectionate nature the fallacy of the stereotypes which threaten his breed’s opportunities for safety and care.

One of my missions is to continue to fight for animal rights and to support other animals in need. I will greatly appreciate any support you choose to give towards meeting the costs for this surgery. This financial support will enable me to continue developing my part in society’s greater mission to help animals in need.
