Hello!

My name is Allisha Smith, born and raised in South Central Los Angeles. I am currently a Culinary Arts student at Los Angeles Trade Technical College. After achieving this degree, I plan to continue to expand my catering business.

The purpose of this GoFundMe is help with startup capital for my catering company.  I started cooking with my mother at a young age and gained a love and respect for cooking through watching her put her heart and soul into every dish she made. We always talked about opening a business together to share her food with the world. Unfortunately, in 2013 my mom “Bonnie” (a nickname given to her by her family) suffered a major stroke that has left her unable to talk or walk. Through this tragic event we have found an amazing way to reconnect and other means to communicate and to no surprise, food has been the common denominator.  Although this has been a crazy journey, I have found that this is what brings me the most joy and it makes us that much closer. 

This business began 8 months ago as a way to fulfill catering needs for neighborhood and professional friends and it soon grew with specialty catering orders for the 2017 holiday season. Since then, I have created #SoulfulSunday, a weekly dinner preparation and delivery for families and professionals who live and work in Los Angeles.

I plan is to expand my catering business by offering high quality cuisine at affordable prices to any event or party (e.g. wedding, graduation, birthdays) to fit customers’ needs.
