Bonnie Angel is a dear friend of mine, we met in 1969 in a hospital room where we were both patients. It was at that time that I realize what a serious diabetic she was. Since then, we have became lifelong friends.

Bonnie has always had a job and worked hard to support her daughter (who also has medical issues), she has recently fallen on hard times and is in need of our help.

Bonnie was living in NY when she fell and broke 2 bones in her leg (due to the diabetes). Once her leg healed, she realized she needed to move to FL, to be near her daughter. At this time, she never thought that if she moved, she wouldn't be able to find employment especially given the fact she had a college degree. Once she got to FL she filled out many applications and went on many interviews but was never able to obtain employment (I believe due to her age). For the last 25 years, she has been living off of her assets such as savings and 401k's. She has now depleted those assets and only receives Social Security.

The rent at her apartment has just been increased, and with all her assets depleted she cannot afford the new rent. However, she does not have the funds to get a new cheaper apartment either. She would need first months rent, last month, and security deposit. She has reached out to all local agencies that she knows of for help, only to be added to long lists, or rejected altogether.

Bonnie is currently being evicted from her apartment because she can't afford it on her social security. What is a 79-year-old on a walker (who can't drive) suppose to do. Please if you have it to spare, she's not a druggie or an alcoholic, she's my friend.
