Help Bonnie and Jr. Achieve Their Dream of Parenthood
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Liz Barrientos, and I’m creating this GoFundMe in honor of my dear friends, Jr. and Bonnie. I’ve had the privilege of calling Bonnie my friend since I was 15 years old. Over the course of our friendship she has shown me endless kindness, grace, and unwavering support. If you know Bonnie, you’ve likely seen firsthand the incredible depth of her compassion for others. I’ve watched her face some of life’s hardest challenges with strength and a smile. Bonnie has always shared how much she's looked forward to motherhood, its a dream she's held close for as long as I've known her. Now, I want to do everything I can to help turn that dream into reality for Bonnie and Jr. My hope is to help lighten the financial burden of this path so they can fully focus and embrace this next chapter in their lives. Whether it’s through a donation, your prayers, or simply sharing this GoFundMe page every gesture of support means the world.
With Bonnie’s blessing, I’ve been given the honor of sharing her story here.
My name is Bonnie Salinas! My husband and I have been married since August 2022, when my cancer journey began. Thankfully, this last round of chemotherapy has worked tremendously and has put me in remission as of September 2024. The past few years have been a whirlwind of emotions, from finding a lump on my own and never imagining it would be breast cancer, to hearing "you have cancer" and the world I would become so familiar with, this journey has been a wild ride. The first time I was diagnosed in August 2022, it was all about getting started on treatment immediately, and I'm so thankful we did because I was cancer free by February 2023. When I returned in March of 2024 for my 1 year scans, it didn't cross my mind that it would have returned so quickly, considering my 6 months scans looked great. However, after scans & biopsies, it was determined that I had cancer again, which now would be considered stage 4, since it had spread to distant lymph nodes. This time around, fertility preservation was at the top of my list, knowing more chemo could damage my fertility. We persevered through the doctor’s appointments, shots, and emotions of what this would mean to us, and in the end, ended up with 2 healthy embryos. Surrogacy will be our route to a future baby. We have recently begun reaching back out to our fertility clinic to get that process started, thus needing funds to continue on. So that’s a bit of the journey I/we have been on, with much more of our story to go.
All donations will go directly to the Chavez family!
