Help Bongo get his Prosthetic Leg
Donation protected
Bongo our beloved cousin is the sweetest, kindest soul and because of his kindness, he found himself in the most desperate of situations six months ago. He was on his way to visit his mum in the village, in Mombasa Kenya, when he came upon a group of men and an old, blind man, who were struggling to hold onto a large coconut tree with a rope. The tree was in danger of falling into the old man's house and they were trying to pull the tree away from the house. Of course, Bongo didn't hesitate to help and as he was holding onto the rope, the tree accidentally fell in the opposite direction to that expected and the end of the rope tightened around Bongo's left ankle with the full weight of the tree, which suddenly lifted him high up into the air with such force, that it shattered his ankle. He was quickly cut away from the tree and taken to the local General Hospital in Mombasa.
Unfortunately once there, due to inadequate healthcare resources available in his country, he was left for 12 hours waiting in agony, it was decided to place metal rods and pins in the ankle joint and then he was just left on a bed for many more hours, which led to a dangerous gangerine infection which Bongo could see was rising up his leg and the blood supply was leaving his foot and ankle in front of his very eyes. He tried to call out for help but none was available. Eventually, he was seen by medical staff and the grave situation was assessed and it was decided that surgery should be performed to save as much of his leg as possible, and so they had no option but to amputate his food and ankle up to just below the knee joint.
After the operation Bongo has been left with a life-changing situation which will have far reaching consequences for him, a young man of 35, who needs to be able to work as his financial situation is desperate, being one of 12 brothers and his mother relying on him for financial help. When he goes to visit her since the accident, she just cries and cries as she knows she can not help him. Despite all this, he is still one of the most positive and happy souls we know. He keeps a smile on his face and never once complains.
The funds raised will pay for the new titanium prosthesis he so desperately needs, to transform his current dire situation and bring semblance of normality back his life, because he sure deserves it !
Thank you so much for all your kind donations, it’s very much appreciated.
