On the evening of December 28, Bongani Ndlovu was hijacked and robbed at gunpoint by 3 men. For hours he was repeatedly threatened and assaulted before being abandoned in the wilderness, and the ordeal left many physical, emotional, and financial wounds. The assailants made off with Bongani’s car, phone, laptop, Garmin, a dress wristwatch, running gear, cash, cards (having emptied out his bank accounts), clothes, and many more personal effects.
Bongani doesn’t want to be a burden on anyone, but this horrible incident was a cruel twist of fate that could happen to any of us, and it puts his plans for 2025 and beyond in jeopardy just at a time when he had been feeling newly prepared for life ahead. While on the mend physically, Bongani cannot indulge in his favoured pastime and therapy of running because his pairs of running shoes and Garmin watch were taken. As things stand, it will be a while before he is in a financial position to replace these; priorities right now are sustenance, securing his residence and getting back on track with major debt repayment.
GoFundMe is unable to distribute funds to South Africa, so everything contributed here I (David Green) will transfer via Wise directly to Bongani. Thank you!
