Hello everyone, and thank you for supporting us by viewing and sharing this page! We are raising funds for our adorable terrier mix named Bogey who was recently diagnosed with an aggressive oral cancer. She is in need of radiation therapy, as surgery is no longer an option given the extent of tumor invasion. Unfortunately, pet insurance does not cover pre-existing conditions like Bogey's, which means we will have to bear the full cost of her treatment. Therefore, we are humbly asking for any support possible, whether it is sharing this page, donating even $1, or keeping Bogey in your prayers. She means the world to us and we would love nothing more than to help her in this battle against cancer!
Our Story:
As student athletes at Radford University, Lauren Seedlock and Andrew Kennedy were counting down the days until they could have a dog. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when all sports seasons were cancelled, the couple took it as a sign to raise a puppy. Thus came Bogey, who was the last of her litter to be adopted from a small town in Virginia called Radford. She instantly became a precious part of the family and has brought continuous joy to Lauren and Andrew each day of her life. Bogey is to turn 5 years old this May, and she still has the energy and charisma of a puppy.
Just this month, Lauren started to notice that Bogey was having some nasal discharge as well as some swelling of her upper gumline, which was thought to be allergies. Then last week, Lauren saw a mass on her left upper jaw and took Bogey to the vet immediately. There, she was sedated in order to get a biopsy of the lesion. Afterwards, they suggested a CT scan which showed a malignant mass spanning the entire left maxillary region, left nasal cavity, and up to the orbital bone. Because of these locations, surgery was not an option and they took Bogey to see a radiation oncologist. Their recommendation was to do five sessions of Sterotactic Radiation therapy to shrink and hopefully get rid of the mass. We are still awaiting biopsy results, but it is speculated that she has a malignant melanoma.
While we are heartbroken with this news, our hopes are high that radiation therapy will help Bogey fight off this awful disease. She has been there for us since the day we adopted her and has shown us love through thick and thin...we want nothing more than to do the same for her. Thank you so much for your help!
