Help Bodie Fight IMHA – A Battle to Save His Life
Dear friends, family, and fellow dog lovers,
Our beloved 7-year-old Golden Retriever, Bodie, has recently been diagnosed with IMHA (Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia), a severe and life-threatening autoimmune disease. His immune system is attacking his red blood cells, leaving his body unable to carry oxygen. This has been a terrifying and heartbreaking diagnosis, but we are determined to fight for Bodie’s life and give him the best chance possible.
A Long and Scary Journey Ahead
IMHA is a difficult and unpredictable disease. Bodie has a tough road ahead, filled with frequent blood tests every four days, daily medications costing approximately $1,000 a month, and potential emergency interventions like blood transfusions. A single blood transfusion for a dog can cost anywhere from $1,500 to $3,000, and multiple transfusions may be needed throughout this battle.
In just the past two weeks, we’ve spent $4,100 on emergency vet visits, treatments, and medications.
Currently, Bodie is hospitalized at the Rise Pet Health Emergency & Specialty Hospital due to a rapid decline in his condition, and we were given an estimate of $4200-$5200 with overnight stay and anticipated transfusion.
How You Can Help
Bodie means the world to our family. He is my heart and soul and the heart of our home. Watching him fight for his life is devastating, but we are committed to doing everything we can to save him.
Any donations, no matter the amount, will go directly toward:
- Emergency care and hospitalization cost
- Ongoing bloodwork and testing
- Life-saving medications and treatments
- Potential blood transfusions
We understand that not everyone may be able to donate, and sharing this campaign to help spread the word would mean just as much to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting Bodie during this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness and generosity bring us hope and strength to keep fighting for him.
With gratitude,
Sarah & Rob
*We will continue to post updates on Bodie’s condition and treatment progress.
