Help Support our Mission Bocas Chess Club for 2024

Donation protected
Club Bocas Chess is an official Panamanian non-profit
sports organization, leaded by people volunteering
and dedicated to give local children the best
opportunities possible and therefor depend on
donations and volunteers.
Bocas Del Toro is an archipelago of nine main islands located next to the northern Caribbean coast of Panama. While most people know Bocas for its surfing and idyllic Carribean beaches, fewer are aware of the infrastructural and academic challenges that Bocatorenos face.
Bocas Del Toro has the highest rates of illiteracy and school drop outs out of every province in Panama. We want to change that.
Our mission is to empower students to pursue their goals and support the future of the Bocas del Toro Community through chess education.
Here at Bocas Chess, we believe that chess is an educational tool that can transform not just individual students’ lives, but also the future of an entire community.
The funds have the objective of sponsoring students who obtain merit and begin their competitive experience. Also sustain Chess training with technology, kindle books, online courses and hire Chess Masters. We also look forward to train new Instructors and volunteers for helping in chess workshops mainly in the 4 schools of our corregimiento: Multicultural Dr. Andres Culiolis Bayard, Tangerine International School after school, Colegio Rogelio Ibarra on Wednesdays & Escuela Carenero on sundays.
Through chess education, our students enforce interpersonal values and develop four essential skills:
It’s impossible to learn chess on your own. Students advance through their chess careers by practicing with their peers and working closely with mentors.
Discussing chess tactics and strategies requires advanced communication skills.
***Critical Thinking***
Chess is a highly strategic game that requires players to observe, analyze, inference, and problem solve.

In february 2024, we participate in Nationals Chess Tournament for the first time as a Federated Chess Club with 19 kids giving an important experience to know the average level in competition and formal rules of this sport (Chess).
Considering we are coming from an Island, the cost of participate in National Tournaments goes over $140 per person just in transportation and food to attend. In addition we can mention the cost of chess sets are $30 and chess timers are $35, these are needed to donate to remote schools or dedicated new ones for the Workshops in schools.

Also a good investment will be tablets or a computer for chess studies , we promote discipline and suggest to control the time screen for education purpose as well. We trust in the youngsters and kids and teach them how to play & learn with resources!

Bocas Chess offers several ad-honorem workshops in public schools in the archipielago and online lessons, raising awareness among teachers and students about the game of chess. We invite you to be part of the project as volunteers, sponsors helping promote this sports, art and science game.

Bocas Chess also collaborate with BAMA an art music academy bringing joy and combining important activities like music and chess together for free in Carenero and Bastimentos.
I am Rio and my friend Kai , volunteered with Bocas Chess in 2023 starting this fundraising, we already have contributed with few chess timers and we can tell funds we continue recieving help the Club and kids to growth in Life and chess.
Increasing attendance , improving mathematical logical skills, relying on fundraisers such as this one allows them to continue improving the organization, impacting positively the youth with enough materials for training , prints exercises , snacks for long sessions and have available budget to keep operating without any financial barriers.
We got to know how much inspiring is this Chess project and impact positively the children education.
