Help Bobo the Kitten Get His Eye Surgery

Donation protected
My name is Allison and in January I helped a community cat named Huerro who was shot with a crossbow in East San Jose (news story). I am now raising money to help pay for surgery for a kitten from Huerro's colony named Bobo that I have been fostering. His surgery is scheduled for March 19th and will cost $600. He has already had over $700 in vet care since I started fostering him, so anything to help offset the cost of his upcoming surgery is greatly appreciated!

Background: Huerro's colony was primarily adult cats, however there were a few kittens that were young enough to socialize. Two healthy kittens and one young adult from Huerro's colony found homes through Bay Area Cats, and six kittens went to the San Jose shelter for URI (and some surprise ringworm!) treatment and adoption. However, one of the kittens was showing signs of stress and fear in the shelter and was not kept for adoption, so on Jan 27th I picked him up and took him home. This kitten had been so fearful in the shelter that they were unable to treat his left eye which had an injury, and because they could not pet or handle him they also missed his symptoms of ringworm (bald patches hidden under his otherwise normal looking coat). I finished his URI treatment and treated him for ringworm. I named him Bobo after Mr. Burn's beloved teddy bear, who also had a broken eye and patchy fur by the time Maggie Simpson found him.

Bobo has recovered from his URI and ringworm (yay). On Feb 11th I took him to the vet for a check-up and to have his eye looked at. I was given some meds for his eye and he was also tested for FeLV and FIV (negative). He had a recheck on Feb 18th, where the vet ultimately recommended enucleation (surgery to remove the eye). On top of this, Bobo also has signs of gingivitis which hasn't responded to two different oral treatments and may require a dental cleaning (but first priority is his eye - we will tackle the dental issues after his eye is taken care of).

If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to help Bobo, you can donate directly to Peninsula Catworks (https://www.peninsulacatworks.org/donate.php) and send them an email to let them know it is for Bobo.

P.S. Bobo is looking for a home! If you are interested in adopting him, let me know!

Thank you!
