My name is Bobby Coraggio, and with a heavy heart, I'm launching a GoFundMe campaign to support my dear friends John and April, whose West Allis home was utterly devastated by the merciless rainstorm on Saturday, August 9th. The storm unleashed a torrent of rainwater and sewage, flooding their home with over 8 feet of toxic water that swallowed their basement and surged up the stairs, invading the first floor. Everything in the basement—the furnace, washer/dryer, water heater, electrical systems, and countless personal treasures—has been destroyed and must be removed, with extensive mitigation still needed. The very foundation of their home may be compromised, though we won’t know the full extent of the damage yet. Their first floor, a place of warmth and memories, suffered heartbreaking destruction, forcing the removal of 15 inches of drywall around the perimeter and the disposal of all water- and sewage-soaked belongings. As if this nightmare wasn’t enough, their car, parked in the garage, was submerged in over 3 feet of floodwater, filling John’s car up to the cup holders and leaving it ruined. Worst of all, irreplaceable keepsakes—precious family photos, sentimental heirlooms, and cherished memories—were swept away in the deluge.
