Help Bobby Todd Rebuild After Severe Heart Attacks
Donation protected
Hello I am Bobby Todd (previous business owner, Around Town Handyman Service) and I am alive after a 13 day active heart attack and 3 back-to-back severe diastolic disease ventricular heart attacks in 24 hours! After a 3 week stay with the best hospital around, Henrico Doctors Hospital, the staff have informed me that what I have been through is taught in medical textbooks but most will never actually experience it.
October 29, I was due to return to work in South Carolina. Drinking coffee and watching the news, I had chest pain and pain in my arm. I knew something was wrong because it was different than the pressure on my chest for the past week. My wife drove me to Riverside Walter Reed Hospital and learned I have been in an active heart attack since Oct 21, when the pressure without pain had started.
Being stubborn, I had not been to a doctor in over 30 years. What was the point...I felt fine. The point was, I later learned, should have been to address oncoming events and prevent major events later on. Turns out I was having heart failure, kidney failure, diabetes, and have a diabetic foot needing amputation. Walter Reed said I had too many complications requiring higher level care, and I was transported to Henrico Doctors Hospital.
October 31, I am taken to the Cath Lab, still in a active heart attack, where 2 blockages were found. The dye used to look for blockages is toxic to the kidneys. Since I am in Stage IV kidney failure, the doctor needed to get in and out quickly. A stent was placed at the 99% blockage, the circumflex artery. There is also a 90% blockage at the LAD artery, the widow maker, that will be addressed later.
November 3 the active heart attack ends and November 5 I have foot surgery. Not knowing that I am diabetic, I did not know that when I stepped wrong and my foot turned red with a toe turned black, I should have gone to a doctor right away. As a result I have 2 amputated toes.
November 6 at 12:30am I go into cardiac arrest due to severe diastolic disease, causing Vfib or ventricular fibrillation. The bottom of the heart was not receiving enough oxygen or blood flow. After CPR x3 and shocking x3 I was revived; my heart stopped x9 minutes. I was rushed to Cardiac ICU. Hours later it happens again, for the 2nd time. After CPR x2 and shocking x2 I was revived; my heart stopped x2 minutes. Hours later it happens a 3rd time. After shocking x1 again I was revived; my heart stopped 1 minute. All 3x in less than 24 hours.
November 13 finally I made it back to a regular room. I can get up and start to walk again and rebuild muscle loss.
November 19 I am sent home because of help from physical therapy and occupational therapy, but most of all my own determination to help myself.
God and my lovely and beautiful wife never left my side through this journey. It is because of their love for me that i am alive. While I still need my wife's help and support at home, we are stretching every dollar to keep up our needs, not luxuries. We both have jobs secured through November 30 but no guarantees to follow. This is understandable from a business operations view.
We greatly appreciate any financial help. Thank you.
