Get Bobby Back on His Feet

If you have seen a musical on any DC-area stage, read a Style section of the Washington Post, or attended any DC theatre community event in the past two decades, you likely know the name of Bobby Smith. If you were lucky enough to cross paths with him in any capacity, you were no doubt delighted by his charm, wit, and talent. His name has become ubiquitous in DC theatre for good reason: the quality of performer and person he is.
On December 19, 2023, our dear friend Bobby Smith was in a major car accident. In addition to the vehicle damage which left him without a car, Bobby has been dealing with some major medical challenges as a result of the accident that will make it difficult for him to return to his regular work schedule of performing and teaching for the foreseeable future.
Bobby is the kind of friend who would give you his only umbrella in the middle of a rain storm, but would never ask for even a portion of the same in return. We know all too well that sometimes when it rains it pours, and it is pouring right now for Bobby. He can use all the umbrellas we can provide. We hope to raise at least $20,000 to help cover Bobby's costs for the following:
-Medical payments and services (including major dental work) that occurred -- or were discovered -- as a result of the accident.
-The purchase of a new vehicle with collision insurance.
-Rent, bills, groceries, and other household and life essentials during his recovery.
-Loss of work during his recovery.
Whether you are a fellow artist who has experienced the joy of collaborating with him, a friend who has received his guidance and support, or a theater patron who has enjoyed any of his brilliant performances, Bobby has given so much of himself to others.
We hope we can show him just how much he is loved, appreciated, and supported by raising the funds to help him navigate this difficult time.
