On June 6, 2025, Bobby was brutally run over twice in front of his children by a man who then drove away. The attacker was arrested days later, released without having to post bail, and we believe that if the roles were reversed, Bobby would still be in jail. Now, Bobby is left with life-altering injuries, mounting medical bills, and a legal system that feels like it’s turned its back on him.

Bobby was followed to his children’s home, where his kids helplessly watched as a man ruthlessly pinned him between his car and the attacker’s vehicle. Bobby collapsed only for the man to back up and run him over again before fleeing the scene.

He was rushed to Cooper Trauma Center, where he spent 11 days undergoing multiple surgeries:

• A rod placed in his right femur

• Pins and screws to repair a fractured right hip

• Multiple fractures through his back

• Multiple surgeries on his right hand, leaving him with another rod and pins

• A torn ligament and fracture in his left knee

He went from being active and independent to needing a walker for short distances and a wheelchair for longer ones. Simple things like playing baseball or basketball with our 10-year-old, picking up our 4-year old or walking the dogs are now exhausting, painful challenges.

This horrific incident also robbed him of precious life moments, including watching his stepson walk at his high school graduation.

The Legal and Financial Struggle

The attacker wasn’t arrested until June 15, and by June 24, despite the violent nature of the crime, he was released without posting bail because he had “no prior record.” We can’t help but question if this was a race-related crime. Deep down, we feel that if the roles were reversed, Bobby would still be sitting in jail. The court also only ordered that the man stay away from Bobby and his son.

To make matters worse:

• The car insurance company refuses to pay for anything—medical or vehicle damages—because it was an “intentional act,” not an accident.

• Bobby’s medical insurance is denying claims, saying it’s auto-related.

• Hospital, rehab, home care, and now outpatient therapy bills from Cooper, Bayada, and other providers are piling up.

• New Jersey’s Victims of Violent Crime program can only cover a fraction of the costs.

Bobby wants to fight for justice, but legal action is expensive and we don’t even know if the man who did this has any money or assets to make him truly accountable.

The Mental Toll

Bobby now battles not only physical pain but also PTSD, constantly questioning why him. He feels like the entire system is against him, leaving him with more questions than answers. He is also watching his children live their lives while he struggles to find new ways to be included. Even simple daily tasks—like cleaning—leave him completely drained.

Bobby didn’t want a GoFundMe. He worried people wouldn’t donate, or that it would make him look weak. But I’ve convinced him because he is drowning in bills, he’s physically unable to work, and the only way to hold this man accountable will be through legal action. Every lawyer we’ve spoken with requires a retainer we simply don’t have.
