Hello Everyone!
My name is Bobby McCulley-Stacy, originally from Sparta, Tennessee, I now live on the beautiful Space Coast of Florida, and I was born with Treacher Collins Syndrome.
For those who don't know much about TCS; basically it's a condition that affects the development of bones and facial tissues. It also in many cases affects hearing and speech, like in my case.
Through the numerous facial reconstruction surgeries I have undergone in my lifetime; they have allowed me to experience life fully, it’s allowed me to help others, and has given me the gift of being able to live every day to the fullest.
A major part of this journey, has been the miracle to hear. As part of my TCS, I was born deaf without an ear or either ear canals.
Through advancements in technology, hearing aids have come a long ways and I currently have a Cochlear BAHA implant. This BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid) has made a dramatic difference in the quality of my life.
Unfortunately, for quite some time now, I have been battling severe infections around my cochlear implant site that regrettably will require a surgery to remove my old implant, as well as an additional surgery at a later date to replace it.
So to get to the point of this post, I'm trying to raise funds to help cover a portion of the cost of my insurance out of pocket, so that I can have these two surgeries done in order to protect my precious miracle gift of hearing.
Implantable hearing devices are considered a medical luxury by insurance standards, and it’s been a challenge to get my insurance company to cover any portion of these surgeries at all. But the thought of not being able to hear again, after going through my first 19 years on this earth without being able to hear properly, is terrifying for me to even consider.
We often forget how blessed we are sometimes, especially with things like being able to hear.
Any help that you could spare or feel led to contribute, I would be absolutely grateful and it would mean the world to me and my family. The cost of the deductible is more than what I'm trying to raise; I have the rest covered personally - this would get me to the finish line to be able to have both of these surgeries completely taken care of.
