Most of you remember that spunky, hard working little point guard from Ozona, Texas that came down with cancer after winning a state championship back in the 1990's. We liked to call her Sweet Pea Bryson, otherwise knows as Bobbie Bryson. She has had a heck of a story, beating cancer and becoming a nurse herself to help others in need as she was inspired by those that helped her during her stay at St. Jude Children's Hospital. Bobbie has always put others first and has worked her butt off to take care of those around her. She is still at risk for getting sick and periodically has to go back to St. Jude's to be tested and helps them provide research for cancer patients. Currently Bobbie has been dealt another blow to her family. She is the sole provider of her mother, who lives with her, that had just been diagnosed with cancer herself. Bobbie is not only having to feed her mother through a peg tube herself, take her to her chemo treatments, but is the one paying for everything as well. With all the joy Bobbie has brought many of us through the years, I, along with several other friends thought it would be great to help give back to Bobbie. She is unable to work right now because of the risk she would be giving not only herself but her mother by being in direct contact with those with COVID-19. Please read the following message from Bobbie.
This comes directly from Bobbie.....
"Mom has stage III non-operative partial obstructing squamous cell esophageal cancer. She will undergo 5 and a half weeks of daily radiation and an initial 6 weeks of chemotherapy treatments. She is on soft to liquid diet as tolerated and a feeding tube has been placed to have some "steak and tators" on days she has too much pain to swallow in order to keep up her calories and protein. Of course she decided to show off her toughness by going through treatment during this pandemic!! Me being a nurse and advocate for my mom is an advantage.....however, my job puts me in the frontline to fight this COVID-19! As of now, I have decided to minimize my exposure and not work as much as possible in order to decrease as much as I can to expose her to the virus."
If you are able to bless Bobbie with any help at all, even if its just prayers, we are so thankful for any help you can provide.
