Bobbi's Medical Recovery and Housing Fund

Hello my name is Michelle Shrewsbury and I'm trying to raise money for my mother who recently had tumultuous health problems, and is now facing eviction. In July, my mom Bobbi Jo was rushed to the hospital where she suffered a severe bout of pneumonia.

She was placed into a medically induced coma, had respiratory failure, renal failure, was septic, and suffered a heart attack as a secondary response, and was put on full ventilation support. She had a 5% chance of survival with the possibility of becoming blind, suffering brain damage, and needing dialysis for the rest of her life.

She was in a coma for 10 days, facing a tracheotomy. She was eventually extubated and miraculously came off the ventilator. She was placed on heavy antibiotics and had to receive dialysis and a chest tube due to a build up of fluid in between her chest wall. All of which caused severe ICU delirium for weeks. During her month long hospitalization, my mom had to re learn basic motor skills.

Everyday was a battle, it's a miracle she survived all that she endured. I am so grateful for amazing staff and especially the ICU nurses at Placentia-Linda hospital who gave her exceptional care. Bobbi was discharged in August with limited strength and mobility. She requires in home care, mobility items like hospital bed, a stool for showering, cane, walker etc. I have became her primary caretaker, and we are looking at a full year of recovery.

My mom has rented a back house on the property of a home in Anaheim for 7 years. She rented this property because it was a safe area that allowed her home her dog Joey. Unfortunately in 2018 her dog passed away, and she has been living pet free ever since. Since I am now her primary caretaker, I visit her daily with my own service dog. Apparently the presence of my dog “severely disturbs” the landlords two Dobermans, and have issued my mom a 60 eviction notice. This couldn’t be happening at an more in opportune time.

We are seeking legal council but are unsure of what the outcome will be.

My mother is kind, thoughtful, and funny. She is my best friend and to watch her go through that was traumatic for us both. My mom is a prideful woman, having been so vulnerable, and now asking for help is not easy for her.

But we are beyond grateful that she's still here. As you can imagine, this eviction situation is stressful and detrimental to her recovery.

Thankfully her insurance covered some of her medical costs, but she is now in debt for everything she is having to pay for out of pocket, and now even more because of having to pay for legal fees and possible relocation.   Thank you for taking the time to read our story. I appreciate all of you thoughts and prayers ❤️
