This is a fundraiser in honor of my dad, Robert "Bob" Patrick Travers, who passed away on July 30, 2021.

I was never more proud of him than when I saw the impact he had on those he taught as an English teacher in middle school, high school, community college, and undergraduate institutions. And he was never more proud than when he led the journalism program at two different high schools in Montgomery County, MD. My dad framed the first-ever issue of the Potomac Falls High School Roar and hung it in our house for years.

Everything he taught his students came from all of his experiences as a sports editor, writer, and opinion columnist for The Pitt News in the mid-1980s. Those long nights editing the sports section and trips to cover gymnastics meets in Connecticut meant more to him than is reasonable, frankly, and I know this because he told me the same stories every night before bed for years. Proceeds from this fund will be donated to student journalists at The Pitt News to continue the work he was so proud to do.
