Help Bob Through Chemo So He Can Get Back to Work

The Short Story:

Bob got cancer. He’s fighting it, but now he can’t work for a while. In the meantime, he needs help paying his bills, including his copays, so he can get back to work and back to helping the people around him. He is about to get evicted. Your help will change his life.

Who is Bob?
If you know Bob, then he has probably helped you with something. As a chef, he may have cooked for you. As a coworker, he may have trained you or covered your shift. If you had car trouble, he most certainly fixed it… and at no charge. You might say he is helpful almost “to a fault.”

But without a doubt, you are glad you know him. People that don’t know him wish they knew more people like him.

He cooked at a restaurant all the way through the pandemic and did not take any unemployment. He helped keep the place going with a "skeleton crew". That’s the kind of guy he is.

Now he needs your help.

What Happened?
Bob was diagnosed with Stage 3b Colorectal cancer on September 9th, 2021. They did emergency surgery to remove the tumor, part of his colon, his appendix and 5 lymph nodes. That was the beginning of a month-long stay at the hospital.

It was pretty bad.

Needless to say, he did not work that entire time. He is currently undergoing 6 months of chemo treatment and the doctor only wants him to return to work after that.

The chemo treatments are very hard on him. But he always bounces back. I simply do not know how he is keeping his relentless positive attitude. He is staying positive and looking forward to recovery and returning to work.

The Problem:
So here’s the problem: He can’t work so he has no money for rent, food or medical copays (Some of you know how crazy those can get).

He used up all of his sick pay. His doctor does not want him to go back to work until treatment is done.

Then there’s this “Doughnut Hole” gap in support:
- Being sick, he is not eligible for unemployment
- He is not eligible for short term disability
- Being sick for “only” 6 months and not a year or more, he is not eligible for long term disability

He has no money coming in and has used up everything he had.

The people he works with appreciate him so much that they have taken up collections to pay his back rent while he was in the hospital. For the following weeks, his friends have brought food and provided rides to his medical appointments. Sometimes he takes the bus.

Bob lives alone. Never married and has no children. His coworkers and his friends have been great, but it is time to reach out to a broader circle of people that can help.

The Solution:
This GoFundMe campaign is meant to help Bob finish beating cancer, get back to work and get back to being that Energizer Bunny of help that he is locally famous for.

His network has taken him this far and now it’s time to finish the race.

He is battling cancer and it would be great if he did not also have to battle becoming homeless, hungry and stressed.

Whether you know him or not, I promise you that Bob would be in any top 10 list of people who deserve your help.

His expenses are low, but important. Your generosity will change his life.

So here’s what you can do:

1. Can’t help with money? Above all, pray for him. I believe in modern day miracles and I also believe that miracles don’t have to be “the parting of the Red Sea”. Let’s pray that Bob is blessed with a full and healthy recovery and with the financial boost he needs. Please take a moment right now. Thank you!
