Help Bob Recover and Get Back on His Feet

Dear friends and family,

My Dad is facing serious health challenges that have left him unable to work. What began as a simple cold quickly progressed to the immobility of his hands, feet, and legs.

Our dad, Bob, is facing a sudden and severe health crisis that has turned life upside down for our family. What began as a mild cold in May quickly escalated into a debilitating condition that left him unable to use his hands, legs, and feet. As Bob is self-employed, he has not been able to work since mid-May—and we still don’t know if or when he’ll recover enough to return to work.

This challenge has not only affected his health but also created a major financial strain. With my mom’s income as the only source of support, they are struggling to cover the mounting medical expenses and the necessary adjustments for Bob’s care at home. We are humbly asking for your help—whether through donations or simply by keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers. Every bit of support makes a difference.

Bob’s Story

Bob lost his job back in 2022. He spent months applying to over 100 positions with no success. Undeterred, he launched his own home repair business—and things were finally starting to look up.

Then in May 2025, while on vacation, Bob came down with what seemed like a simple cold. By the time we returned home on May 17, he was feeling better and returned to work. But things took a turn on Memorial Day when he started experiencing tailbone pain and numbness in his hands. Initially, we suspected a pinched nerve—but his symptoms worsened rapidly.

After several ER visits, Bob was admitted to the hospital on June 3 for pain management. Testing revealed a COVID-19 infection, but no clear explanation for the growing weakness in his body. MRIs, bloodwork, and a spinal tap all came back inconclusive. He was discharged and scheduled for an EMG on June 24.

By Father’s Day, his condition had declined dramatically. He was using a cane, then a walker, and eventually a desk chair to move around the house. The EMG revealed advanced acquired demyelinating polyneuropathy—an autoimmune disorder attacking his nerves. He was immediately re-admitted to the hospital and began plasmapheresis treatment, a procedure to remove harmful antibodies from his blood.

Bob completed treatment on July 5 and started physical and occupational therapy on July 11. His progress has been slow, and we’re unsure if he will be able to make a full recovery to return to work. His anticipated discharge date is August 8, but his recovery will continue well beyond that date.

How You Can Help

We’re raising funds to support Bob’s medical care, rehab, and critical home accommodations for his disability. Any amount helps ease the burden and lets us focus on what matters—his healing. If you’re unable to donate, we’d still be grateful for your prayers, kind messages, and for sharing this page with others.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
