My name is Cameron Wilson and I'm creating this on behalf of my stepfather Bob Paulsen. He has always been a source of strength and guidance in my life. Earlier this year, our family’s world changed when Bob began experiencing slurred speech and weakness. At first, doctors thought he’d had a stroke, but after months of uncertainty and countless tests, we learned in September that Bob has Bulbar onset ALS(amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) with frontal lobe dementia which only happens in only about 5-10% of ALS patients. It's a rare progressive disease that attacks the nerves controlling voluntary muscle movement. The diagnosis was devastating, and since then, his condition has worsened rapidly. He can no longer speak or swallow food, and he now relies completely on a feeding tube and specialized formula for nutrition. Watching someone so strong lose muscle mass and grow weaker every day has been incredibly hard for all of us.

Bob had dreams of starting an animal sanctuary in retirement, but now our focus is on making him as comfortable as possible and ensuring he has the care he needs. The costs have quickly become overwhelming. The specialized formula is a daily necessity, and we’re working to move Bob closer to family so we can care for him better. These funds will also go towards accessibility modifications to the home including ramps, stairlifts, bathroom adaptations, mobility aids, assistive devices, and accessible vehicle for safe transportation. As his condition progresses, he’ll need more home care assistance, including nursing support. Our family is doing everything we can, but we can’t do it alone.

Bob has spent 7 years in law enforcement and another 25 years as a semi truck driver with a spotless record over those years with not even a single ticket or accident. I appreciate everyone's help from the bottom of my heart. My stepfather Bob Paulsen has helped teach me what it means to be a man and how to take care of your family.
