Help Bob Huggins Rebuild After Devastating Inferno at Nashville Marina– Total Loss of His Home and Belongings:

In the early hours of a freezing morning, our dear friend Bob Huggins narrowly escaped with his life when a fire erupted on the houseboat next to his at the Elm Hill Marina in Nashville. Bob was going through a difficult transition period, and he was living on a modest houseboat with everything he owned. Unbeknownst to him, and to make matters worse, his homeowners insurance had lapsed Dec 31, 2025. There was no coverage of any kind to indemnify Bob of this tragic and total loss. This winter had been exceptionally difficult in Tennessee as the power had been out for over 10 days due to the recent ice storm. The marina, knowing that some residence were living on boats, were rapidly trying to restore power. Just before his next door neighbor’s camera went off-line, it alerted to a small blaze, knowing Bob would be there riding out the storm, he called Bob immediately to check on his slip, but it was much too late; fire had already engulfed the neighboring houseboat. The insatiable flames were now licking at Bob's own home. Bob bravely tried to fight the flames, emptying two fire extinguishers onto the inferno and even grabbing a garden hose after both available fire extinguishers failed to make any impact at all-- which did little to remedy such a voracious firestorm--because once the fiberglass and canvas ignited, the conflagration exploded out of control.

With incredibly quick thinking and courage, while his own house and belongings were completely engulfed in flames, Bob single-handedly rushed down the marina frantically untying and pushing eight to ten nearby boats out of their slips and onto the water to create a firebreak, thus stopping the blaze from spreading further down the marina and potentially saving dozens of others’ property, homes, and lives. "Thankfully, there were no injuries—everyone is safe, and that’s the most important thing." Bob said. But Bob lost everything: his only home, all his clothes, wallet, computer, personal belongings, and years of memories. He walked away with literally nothing but the clothes on his back and his phone in hand.

Bob is a hardworking, stand-up guy who’s always there for his friends and community. He doesn’t ask for help often if at all, but right now, he needs our support to start over—replacing essentials like clothing, a temporary place to stay, a new computer for work, and the basics to rebuild his life!
