Help Bob Herndon kick cancer’s ass
Donation protected
Hello. My name is Sheri Hull and I’m Bob Herndon’s sister. I’m writing this today in hopes that you are willing and able to help my brother in his battle to kick cancer’s ass. If you know Bob, you know he’s always ready and willing to give help but would never burden other people when he is in need.
He is in need. And because he’s stubborn, I’m asking for him :-)
What is Bob’s diagnosis?
Bob was diagnosed with multiple myeloma earlier this year after experiencing severe bone pain. Multiple myeloma is a blood cancer that develops in the bone marrow, the soft spongy tissue found in the center of many bones.
How is Bob now?
Bob recently completed his initial round of chemotherapy and was doing well. He continued to work and was fighting through, but then suffered a complication a few month ago. Bob was in the hospital for a week with a kidney infection which spread to his blood. Immediately after that hospitalization he began experiencing a horrible case of CIPN – chemo induced peripheral neuropathy. This causes almost constant pain and has halted his ability to live his life. He is now unable to work and on many days is unable to do anything at all. His amazing wife, Cheryl, has had to reduce her work to be more available to assist Bob. Beginning on 10/15 Cheryl will be driving Bob almost daily for his injections and multiple doctors appointments to prep for the transplant. That's two lost incomes.
What are the next steps?
Bob is scheduled to begin an intense bone marrow/stem cell transplant process on November 10th. During this process, which will take at least three weeks, Bob will be in almost complete isolation to limit the possibility of infection. This transplant is the key to getting the cancer under control. Multiple myeloma cannot be cured, but it can be put into remission for long periods of time. Please keep him and his beautiful family in your prayers during all of this.
What can I do?
Bob’s medical bills are quite a burden right now. Along with everyday bills piling up, Bob has multiple medicines and therapies that his insurance doesn’t cover. I’m hopeful that we can all come together to lift him up in prayer and relieve some of his and Cheryl’s financial burden.
Thank you so much for reading Bob’s story and thank you for donating what you can. Please share this link to get the word out far and wide, and please stay tuned for updates.
