Help Bob and Terrisa Create a Safe Living Space
Donation protected
By now you likely know that on July 2nd Bob suffered a stroke and on the 8th was transferred from Methodist Hospital to Knapp Rehabilitation Center, part of Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC).
While the doctors remain encouraging about Bob’s chances for a high level of recovery, they cannot predict a precise timeline or details. It could take a year to know.
What is certain, however, is the fact that substantial modifications will need to be undertaken in order for Bob to be able to more safely live in their existing home.
We (Bob and Terrisa) anticipate needing to do some work on 2 entrances to make them accessible - possibly a ramp and reworking the sidewalk to the side door. Several modifications seem needed for the front entry as well including reinforcement of the posts, adding grab bars and a safety rail. Also, solid, armed chairs are needed in both the TV room and the dining area.
Another scenario under consideration is for us to move into our AirBnB on the lower level which would require two storage projects be built to make it suitable for full time occupation. AirbnB guests would be rerouted to our upstairs. This alternative makes more and more sense considering the shower is zero entry compared to our current very high-walled bathtub.
Either the core of the renovations will be on the main level entrances or they will be on the lower level to create storage for the AirBnB turned owners' apartment; the cost of either choice should be fairly similar. The solid recliner and solid dining chair would follow Bob either level.
Thank you for considering ways to support us whether it is with your gifts of service or other resources. Although it is humbling to ask for help, I have been reminded repeatedly in the last few weeks that you all sincerely care and want to know how you might help.
Bob and I thank you -- for all the ways you continue to show your care.
